NSU Center for Student Counseling and Well-Being
Eligibility Criteria:
- Students currently enrolled Full or Part Time and eligible per the higher learning institution
- Family Counseling- if engaging in this service, the children involved must be at least 12 years of age
- Students may continue to receive services up to 90-days post-graduation
Services Provided:
- Screening / Triage
- Student Counseling Services Assessment
- Individual, Couples, Family Counseling, Group Therapy
- Psychiatric Evaluation
- Medication Management
- Crisis Counseling and Intervention
- Assessment of Co-occurring Disorders
- Education on Wellness and Recovery
- Linkage and Referral
- Campus Outreach
Regional Campus Video Counseling:
Individual and couples counseling is available to all students attending school at one of the NSU Regional Campuses via Video Counseling. In addition, psychiatric services are available to students attending school at the following Regional Campuses:
- Fort Myers
- Jacksonville
- Miami
- Orlando
- Palm Beach
- Tampa (dedicated in-person counselor M/T 3pm-7pm – limited scheduling)
Discharge Criteria:
The plan for discharge is initiated during the intake session with the counselor and reviewed periodically during treatment. The length of service and the possible options are presented to each student including but not limited to the use of allowable sessions, referrals to community service providers for transitional services, or re-engagement if services are discontinued for any reason prior to the full utilization of allowable sessions.
