Licensed Practical Nurse

The paraprofessional may have a bachelor’s degree in a field other than behavioral sciences or minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience with individuals with mental illness or similar human-services needs, or other applicable experience desired. The Licensed Practical Nurse, in conjunction with the Psychiatrist, administers treatment and medications to individuals; refers for physical exams and other physical
problems; records medication orders; writes progress notes; makes telephone calls; reports to doctor regarding physical problems, assesses individuals; ensures compliance with the Nurse Practice Act; follows job description according to policy and procedures; and provides emergency medical services. May have related training (e.g., certified occupational therapy assistant, home health care aide) or work experience (e.g., teaching) and life experience. Additional related education and/or experience preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required.
