Position provides peer support services to clients served by the HHOPE Team. All work will be informed by the core principles of the evidence-based program, Housing First, which is a recovery orientated approach to ending homelessness that centers on quickly moving people, experiencing homelessness into independent and permanent housing then providing additional supports and services. Candidate should have a minimum of a high school degree or equivalent. Some college is preferred. In addition, candidate is in recovery from mental illness or substance abuse. Previous experience of homelessness is preferred. Familiarity with local community resources, basic social work procedures, practices and methods. Knowledge of Housing First principles is also preferred. Candidate should also have the ability to relate well to others. Have the ability to utilize good judgment. Demonstrate willingness to take direction. Ability to follow consumer eligibility or other program protocols and to conduct eligibility screenings. Candidate should have the ability to react quickly and appropriately in crisis situations.
